Q&A with our CEO

Q&A with our CEO

John joined the PathO3Gen Solutions team three years ago. Prior to his role as CEO, John spent 45 years with BDP International, one of the largest privately held logistics companies in the world. In addition to his role as CEO. John is a majority investor.

What attracted you to PathO3Gen Solutions initially?

It was an infant start up and I was looking for not only an investment, but one that would have positive results for humankind. A friend of mine, Scott Beal, became COO of the company. He and I discussed the needs of the organization, the potential to create cleaner and safer environments, and ultimately, to be part of a process that could save lives.

We had no idea three years ago that COVID-19 was coming. Now, our ability to achieve these goals has gone up exponentially, as the world now recognizes the role of the floors and shoes in the spread of harmful germs – especially SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Keeping COVID-19 in mind, what does the future of PathO3Gen Solutions look like?

We started by being the only company that owns the global patents for a technology that combines Ozone and UVC. Our product, the UVZone Shoe Sanitizing Station, provides elimination rates that are, on average, 110x more effective than UVC light alone.

As you now see the UVC market exploding in an attempt to sanitize the world, we believe that our patented technology is best in class and best suited to address floor sanitation in all major industries, especially healthcare.

When tested by CREM Co. labs, our UVZone technology eliminated Human Coronavirus at a rate of 99.999% in just 8 seconds. We are looking at other applications for our technology and plan to utilize it in future products.

What do you think the future of sanitation protocol looks like, in general, in a post-pandemic world?

It was a very “non-standard” world that needed a major push towards sanitization standards, applied to all parts of society.  In the next couple of years, I see experimentation in the private, public and government sectors to determine the appropriate standards and apply these across the board.  I also see trillions of dollars, globally, going into preparing for the next potential pandemic.

The world forgot about the pandemic of 1918 and it costs all of us dearly.  Now that we are all awake, we must prepare and set standards while producing the appropriate amount of equipment and pharmaceuticals, so that when the next pandemic hits, we are not flat-footed, like we were in 2020.  We must be ready.

What would you say are the main values of your company?

The world revolves around people.  I have run many businesses in my life and opened numerous offices around the world.  You treat everybody the same – with kindness and respect – while giving everyone (suppliers, customers, partners, and especially employees) a voice.

We value people over everything and our company culture has grown to reflect that.  Once you take care of your network of people, you build trust and commitment.

Then, and only then, do you know that everyone is taking care of each other and the customers.  Any positive quality related to people is what we value: a voice in the outcome, diverse opinions, kindness, respect, and a willingness to infuse the word “love” into a business environment that rarely understands that love is what drives all people.  It used to be taboo to use this word in business. It should be the first word used.

What has been your proudest accomplishment as CEO of PathO3Gen Solutions?

I am most proud of the team we have built together and the amount of personal commitment our team has to excellence, ethics and to doing the right thing for each other and our customers.  You can’t buy that one.  We are also proud of our commitment to supporting the world’s newfound concern with sanitization, health and safety.  It was long overdue.
